New York City in April

One may find it unappealing, the idea of a weekend trip to New York City whose starting lineup contains activities such as “missing their first intended train into the city“, and delightful amenities like “more than a dollar bill’s length in inches of rain”.

Though with the right company?
The ducking in-and-out of shops in a futile attempt to dodge the rain feels less like a chore, but instead has a certain charm and comedic joy to it.

The weight of soaked shoes and jackets are feather-light in comparison to the series of bits, and good conversations had amongst friends.

And the bitter cold rain which propagates impassible puddles throughout the city? It only serves to make the afternoon ramen taste all the more comforting.

From the joyous train conductors, to dive bars that played questionable content on their TVs.
From meeting and sharing a mosh pit with members of Yam Haus and Landon Conrath at the Mercury Lounge, to matcha lattes in little Paris, and just exploring different parts of the city.

This trip to New York was one to remember, partly from the experiences themselves, but mostly because of who those experiences were shared with.

I definitely look forward to going back.
