A long while back was the first time I went to Ott’s Greenhouse with a friend from work, as well as her two nieces. With my Sony A7II in tow, with an adapted M42-mount film lens – I admired the lush greenery and towering greenhouse. These were shot almost a year ago at this point, back in January of 2022.

Shot through the lens of an old MIR-1 37mm f/2.8 lens, this lens perfectly rendered the lush greens and ark shadows of the greenhouse. I’ve found that, despite being shot on digital, the shots taken with this lens tend to have an almost film-like quality to them; especially when shot wide open at F2.8. Along with the unique branding of a nation which no longer exists, and the way this brand boasts its Great Prize reputation from the 1958 Brussels World Fair, this gem of an M42 has quickly become my favorite prime-lens in my arsenal. I could gush on and on about this lens, but that’s a post for another day.

For now, enjoy these photos from January 19th of 2022.

Although I leave in the vicinity of Otts Greenhouse, I have never been there. Since seeing your photos, I will make a point to visit this greenhouse.
